Some impressionsfrom the technical excursion taken during our journey from Shanghai over the Three gorges dam to Beijing in 2013 organized by Franzius-Institute for Hydraulic, Estuarine and Coastal Engineering.
Some impressions from the 2007 hydrographic survey conducted in the context of the "Last-Mile Evacuation"-project where bathymetric data, ocean currents and CTD measurements were our focus. Those data were ultimately used to setup a numerical simulation of approaching tsunami and thus inundation could be forecasted from such catastrophes.
Impressions captured and snapshots taken during the technical excursion organized by Franzius-Institute for Hydraulics, Waterways and Coastal Engineering. Some interesting towns and coastal engineering building sites along the Baltic Sea coast were visited.
Technical excursion to sites with coastal engineering interests was organized by Institute for Geotechnics, Waste management and Hydro Sciences, University Wuppertal, Germany and Franzius-Institute at University Hanover jointly. Starting at Chennai, our journey took us to buildings sites for coastal protection and further south to Kanyakumari, where the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004 struck.
